Mo and Stacey

Infant Adoptive Waiting Families: Mo and Stacey have recently become adoptive parents.

Dear Birthparent(s),

Hi there and thank you for considering our family. We’re Mo and Stacey, and our foundations in life involve family, friends, travel, adventure, and playfulness. Mo’s own mother placed a child into adoption as a young adult and told us “it was the biggest act of love, and one of the most difficult moments of my life.” Knowing this, we want to say we appreciate you and have deep respect for your courage and capacity to love as you make this difficult decision. It’s an honor to be connected with you, even if it’s just ends up being through the words on this page.

We’ve been partners and friends for thirteen years and in that time, we’ve grown stronger together through challenges, opportunities, and the many beautiful moments. What makes our family great is the amount of love and support we have for one another, and within our community. We’re very committed to our family and friends, and this network of love and connection is something we look forward to raising a child within.

We’re not the couple who has always known they would have kids. In fact, we’ve taken our time making the decision to become parents, as it was not a decision we took lightly. We are clear that we’re ready to become parents, are enthusiastic and committed to the role, and we’d love to do so through open adoption. We view openness as essential in many aspects of life, especially within the relationship we hope to share with you. We look forward to getting to know you, and understand that it might feel complex at times, and that’s okay too.

We’re both dynamic, strong, relaxed, playful and hardworking folks committed to social and environmental justice, which is reflected in our work. Stacey has been in the renewable energy field for fifteen years and specializes in solar power. She’s incredibly hard working and passionate about protecting the environment. Mo is a mental health therapist and has worked in large public systems, but now works for herself in private practice. Both of our jobs fuel us in a way that speaks to what we care about and believe in, and also provide us with a comfortable and stable foundation to live.

Our views on parenthood involve raising a child in a safe, loving, supportive, and adventurous manner to foster kindness and compassion. Our home is in Bend, Oregon near the Cascade Mountains, the Deschutes river, and lots of open spaces. We mountain bike, ski and camp with our dog, Georgia. We’re looking forward to watching our child grow and learn how to use nature to help stay grounded, inspired, and healthy. We really enjoy quiet moments at home reading, making art, or doing projects around the house. We love traveling to new places, getting opportunities to go to cities and experience new cultures, and yet our home is also grounding to return to, and a beautiful place to live and raise a child in.

We hope this letter has given you a brief glimpse into who we are, how we live and love, and what it might be like to be connected with us. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and we look forward to the possibility of meeting you in the future.

With care,

Mo and Stacey
