Learn about Voluntary Adoption Placement

If you have a client who is pregnant or has given birth and may be interested in planning a voluntary adoption placement rather than having their baby removed from their care, we can help.  Our counselors can talk with you or with them about open adoption.

The benefits of a voluntary adoption placement for the birth parent include the ability to select which family adopts her child and to seek a level of openness that offers ongoing knowledge of, and connection to, her child.  In addition, it is beneficial for the baby to immediately be placed with a prepared and committed family where they can remain permanently rather than a placement with a resource family that may be temporary.

Making a decision about an unexpected pregnancy can be a long, emotional and difficult process. Boys & Girls Aid would like to make that process simpler. We provide counseling for pregnant women, their partners and new birth parents. If they decide on adoption, we work with them to create an adoption plan that allows them to be as involved with their child’s life as they’d like.

Boys & Girls Aid is a nonprofit agency with a goal of connecting children in Oregon with loving and stable families. We have served more than 100,000 children in our 137-year history

In addition to our Supportive Adoption Services, we have a number of programs that directly serve children in the foster care system.  We understand child welfare work in Oregon and strive to be an active partner with ODHS in many different ways as we all work together to serve Oregon's vulnerable children.
